riding in a vehicle

I usually work out situations while listening to music, while riding a bus or a car for long periods of time.

I have only been listening to music that puts me in the appropriate world that I’m trying to make in the script.

I really should stay up all night and write.

I bought a book that talks about how screenplays got made.

One section talks about Lost in Translation. Sofia Coppola says that she writes disjointed and not in the proper screenplay format. She writes little “scenes” that might be found in a novel and then figure out where they go later. That’s what I’ve been doing. I can’t imagine trying to confine yourself to a structure before you even know what the fuck you’re writing about.

Sometimes I ask myself why I’m writing a movie and not a book and then I sit and watch one second of a movie and I’m sorry I ever doubted myself.

I watched Milk today. There were a couple of scenes with Sean Penn that just made me cry a little bit. He’s so good. He really is. I didn’t really feel Gus Van Sant in the film until the last few minutes…when it started getting tense and scary.
